Adventures In Thrifting

Thrifting with a toddler is a whole 'nother adventure.  At every stop she tells me that she doesn't like carts.  Well, if you can imagine all of the touching that goes on without the restraint of a cart.  Yeah, not pretty.  Yesterday we went into one small thrift and I didn't put her in the cart...well she sought out every.single.ceramic.animal.  "Oh mom, look at the kitty!  Kitty poopin'!"  Oh dear.

I've found that fifty cents will save me every time.  Fifty cents will buy what I call, Sanity Savers.  You know, things like this...

We are the proud owners of that lovely ladybug candle.  It's huge.  We have a smaller one somewhere that we bought about a month ago.  Well, of course, the big one had to come home with us yesterday because it's the Momma Ladybug!

Or ceramic birds, such as this...please note the broken wing...

She is also at the age where she is trying to figure out language, putting people with labels, etc.  It was pretty hilarious.  There is always that one person in the thrift that you want to tell to buzz off.  You know you've been there.

"Oooh!  You're finding things?  What are you going to do with this stuff?"  As this woman stalks my cart full of gnarly treasures, my daughter asks if this lady is a Mimi.  I told her that she might be a Mimi.   The lady pleasingly smiles and asks if a Mimi is someone's mom.  I said, "No, a grandma."  Her smile quickly turned sour.  :::snicker:::  I'm not sure who she thought she was fooling.  Clearly, she was old enough to be a grandmother.  If you don't want 2 year old calling you out, then I suggest you throw a little color on that gray.  I'm just sayin'.

Do You Feel Neglected?

I'm so sorry for neglecting my sweet blog.  I've been trying to stock up my Etsy shop.  I told myself I couldn't shop anymore until I had every thing listed...yeah right.  Who am I fooling?  I just know that there is a poor, neglected, greasy bread box out there in some lonely thrift waiting for my rescue.  I'm just sayin'...

My daughter starts Montesorri preschool in a few weeks and  I will have 2 days a week to shop a-l-o-n-e- while she is at school.  I am so thrilled!  She just doesn't see the beauty in the brass candlesticks and wants to ride in the big part of the cart where I need to heap my treasures.  I hope she is friendlier than this when she goes to school.

I have listed a lot of new beauties on Turquoise Rollerset this past week.  Please come and visit!  Here is a peek of what's new...
